Lidija’s big 4-0 is coming up and she had always said that she wanted to go to Bora Bora for her 40th birthday. So starting a year before, we began to look into planning this. Upon some preliminary research we learned a few things about the French Polynesian islands. One, there is a very limited selection of resorts (minimal competition = higher prices!); and two, turns out that January is the “rainy” season there. Where else can we find a similar escape with more options and better weather for that time of the year? Welcome to the MALDIVES!
Typically, we like to do our own research and plan out the details of our trips. This time we felt that for a trip this extravagant and on the other side of the world we should employ someone with expertise in the area. For the first time we decided to work with a travel agent. A quick online search and I had a selection of potential agents who specialized in the Maldives. I reached out to a few and within minutes I had a call set up with my soon-to-be advisor and aide.
Enter Jason Toms from Audley Travel https://www.audleytravel.com/ca/ Jason has been absolutely amazing right from the get go to help efficiently plan and expand upon our upcoming trip. He took the time to find out exactly who we were and what we wanted from our trip. He was extremely quick to respond and very thorough in those responses. With his guidance and expertise we have planned out what is hopefully a trip of a lifetime!
So why set up a blog then? While this upcoming trip to the Maldives was the INSPIRATION to document the trip for ourselves, it is also something we would like to expand upon in the years to come. It is a project that Everleigh and Madelyn can contribute to and help us with as they grow. It is a project we can look back upon and look forward to. I hope you enjoy staying with our journeys both near and far!
